Be a part of the team that changes the future of pet food!
Pet food labels are allowed to display pleasing images of choice meats and fresh vegetables, yet inside the bag or can the pet food could actually contain euthanized animals, drug residue contaminated meats, or moldy grains and vegetables. The FDA has written specific loophole provisions that allow just about any waste to be processed into pet foods without alerting the consumer.
The pet food consumer is not told the truth.
The industry has skillfully influenced pet food regulations to such an extent consumers have to become their own private detective in order to learn exactly what is in their pet’s food. No country of origin information is provided, pet foods don’t inform if genetically modified ingredients are included in the food, and the worst – we have no guarantee to the quality of ingredients in the pet food.
Frequently we learn of sick pets that appear to be linked to one particular pet food. Far too often veterinarians do not report the treatment of a sick pet believed to be linked to a pet food/treat to federal and state authorities or know to advise the client (pet owner) to report the incident to authorities.
Pet food consumer and pet professional education is significant to proper pet food safety and accountability.
The Association for Truth in Pet Food will work to protect pet food consumers and in turn protect their pets in these three main areas…
Advocacy
Representing the consumer voice with pet food regulatory authorities. The Food and Drug Association, the Association of American Feed Control Officials, and the National Organic Standards Board are our main objectives to have a consumer voice with.
Accountability
The testing of suspect and random pet foods. All positive test results will be provided to federal and state authorities and published publicly.
Education
Providing pet food consumers with access to unbiased pet food education. Providing pet food consumers and pet professionals with information how to report a pet food adverse event to the proper authorities.
We are 100% pet food consumer supported and intend to quickly become the largest pet food stakeholder organization in the U.S. The Association for Truth in Pet Food does not accept donations from for-profit corporations, but relies on concerned citizens like you.
