Canine First Aid Kit Recall

May 20, 2021 by Editorial Team

“Creative Pet Products and MAI/Genesis (Veterinary Concepts), both of Wisconsin, have recalled thousands of kits because the alcohol prep pads and sterile lubricant jelly could be contaminated with Bacillus cereus bacteria.”

A recall that began with human products has now been extended to first-aid kits used for horses and dogs.  “The kits were distributed in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Taiwan and Costa Rica. Some of them were marketed for police and military canine units.

The alcohol pads and jelly were made at Triad’s plant in Hartland, which has been shut down by the Food and Drug Administration over allegations of contamination issues in human pharmaceutical products.

Manufacturers of first-aid kits for humans and animals have told consumers to immediately dispose of the alcohol and iodine pads that were part of Triad recalls.”
